Now you can justify those hours of Googling as an exercise for your future career as a physician. According to this article on WebMD (smirk) most physicians will be relying on online content to find up-to-date information about medications and conditions. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/548888. This will be especially important for docs who plan to practice in a rural setting, or who otherwise lack access to the newest print resources in medicine.

Can Cheese and Beans Boost Fertility?


As future health practitioners, expect that articles in popular magazines will influence your patients’ questions about improving their health. In a recent Newsweek article, the results of a long-term study of diet and fertility have found significant correlations between diets high in plant protein and with modest sums of whole dairy products and increased fertility. Diets high in sugary foods (including potatoes and white bread) seemed to be correlated with low fertility. Trying to get pregnant? Gulp down that half- pint of Ben and Jerry’s) while bean sales will remain stable. What do you think?

Are Optometrists Happier?

Recently, I was browsing the web and found that optometrists rank their career very highly in terms of job satisfaction.  This is not surprising, considering that this career is in demand (think of all the boomers with bad eyesight, not to mention the rest of us whose eyes are glued to monitors all day) and optometrists are able to cure most vision problems with relative ease and little pain, hence a high satisfaction rate for patients.  Additionally, there is potential for high income with REASONABLE HOURS!  To learn more, check out Careers Internet.   Also, in a recent U.S. News and World Report article, Optometry was cited as one of the "7 Greatest Careers for 2007."
